Ignazio Gaetano Boncompagni-Ludovisi
Ignazio Gaetano Boncompagni-Ludovisi (born January 18, 1743 in Rome , † August 9, 1790 in Bagni di Lucca ) was a Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
From Pope Pius VI. elevated to cardinal in pectore on July 17, 1775 , the Pope published his name on November 13, 1775. Appointed cardinal deacon of S. Maria in Portico on December 18, 1775 , he switched to the titular diaconia of Santa on January 29, 1787 Maria ad Martyres and finally on March 30th 1789 to Santa Maria in Via Lata .
In 1775 he was a delegate for the aqueducts of Ferrara , Bologna and Romagna , and from 1777 to 1781 Boncompagni took over the post of papal legate in Bologna. Cardinal Secretary of State from 1785 , he retired in 1789 because his health was in poor health.
Boncompagni never received the sacrament of consecration beyond the minor ordinations.
