Ihmerter Church

The Ihmert Church is the only church building in Ihmert and the seat of the Protestant congregation Ihmert - Bredenbruch . The building is located in the Im Hasberg district and was consecrated in 1931.

history

He belonged to the community of today's farmer's church in Iserlohn until the population increased massively in the 19th century due to industrialization. From 1911 there was a first lay preacher for Kesbern and Ihmert , who was replaced by a first pastor two years later . The Ihmert Valley became its own parish on April 1, 1920. In economically difficult times, between 1929 and 1931, the parishioners built today's church, which was consecrated on March 15, 1931, largely on their own. The church was built from natural stone and consists of a hall church with a tower in front of which the parish rooms are housed. A defining design feature in the interior is the painting of the choir with a portrait of the Ascension of Christ .

The building was badly damaged by fire on May 20, 1988, and Hermann-Josef Geismann's architectural office in Hemeran carried out the necessary restoration.
