content

It is a comedy - reality series in documentary format. The moderators warn against doing certain things, but then do them themselves. Among other things, fireworks were set off indoors and lemonade was made from milk.

Each season takes place in a house that is intended to be demolished, as far as possible away from other houses. The house is regularly and severely damaged in individual experiments. In the last episode of each season, it is then completely destroyed, for example by fire.

production

The first season was shot in the summer of 2010 and first broadcast on January 6, 2011 on NRK1. Due to the positive feedback and reviews, a second season was produced and broadcast in 2012. The sixth season finally aired in 2017.

In March 2012, the show was adapted in Denmark under the title Dumt og Farligt . Also in 2012 a German remake ( Don't copy it! ) Was produced for ZDF , in which Wigald Boning and Bernhard Hoëcker carried out the experiments. The Swedish version ( Never Ever (try this at home) ) was broadcast on Viasat in April 2013 . In May 2013, the remake Never Ever Do This At Home was released on Discovery Channel in Canada. An adaptation was also produced in Poland .

criticism

A trailer for the series was criticized even before it was first broadcast . It showed how fireworks were set off in the house. The Department of Civil Defense and Disaster Protection DSB (Directoratet for Samfunnssikkerhet og Beredskap) noted that it was not clear how the video was supposed to prevent people from doing it. The editorial team of the show said that they assume that it will help to prevent accidents if you can see the damage the experiment causes. It was also criticized that an episode showed how to build a bomb. After the attacks in Norway in 2011 , in which right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik killed people with a bomb, among other things, the program was removed from the media library.

A homeowner from Orkdal was fined 50,000 kronor after filming the fifth season after the house was burned down without a permit. The production team took care of the payment.

Award

In autumn 2011, the show was recognized as the most creative TV format by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
