Ikorta ( Georgian იკორთა , Ossetian Икъорта ) is a village in Georgia . According to Georgian jurisdiction, it belongs to the municipality of Gori in the Inner Kartlien region , de facto to the Tskhinvali Rajon of the Republic of South Ossetia, which is internationally recognized only by a few states .
Ikorta is a good 15 kilometers as the crow flies southeast of the city of Tskhinvali . The place consists of two parts: the larger one lies on the plain at about 750 m above sea level (Georgian Semo Ikorta, "Unter-Ikorta"), a significantly smaller one about 7 kilometers north at a height of 1000 m (Georgian Kwemo Ikorta, " Ober-Ikorta "). There is the medieval Ikorta church .
In the Middle Ages, Ikorta was a residence of the ducal family of Ksani (Ksnis Eristawi, Georgian ქსნის ერისთავი ).
