Nicola Fago
Francesco Nicola Fago ( Il Tarantino ; born February 26, 1677 in Taranto , † February 18, 1745 in Naples ) was an Italian Baroque composer.
Life
Fago was a student at the Conservatorio della Pietà de 'Turchini in Naples from 1693 . He then worked from 1704 to 1708 as Kapellmeister at the Conservatorio Sant'Onofrio , from 1705 to 1740 at the Conservatorio della Pietà de 'Turchini and from 1709 to 1731 at the Capella del Tesoro di San Gennaro (in the cathedral of Naples ) and finally from 1736 also at San Giacomo degli Spagnuoli . His students included Nicola Sala , Leonardo Leo and Niccolò Jommelli .
In addition to several operas , he composed church music, including cantatas , a Stabat mater , a Te Deum and several oratorios .
