Ilya Viktorovich Schcherbovich ( Russian Илья́ Ви́кторович Щербо́вич , scientific transliteration Ilya Viktorovich Sherbovich ; born  December 23, 1974 in Vladimir ) is a Russian entrepreneur. He is the founder, president and lead partner of the investment company United Capital Partners.

Life

Sherbovich was a successful chess player during his school days. After graduating from school, he attended the Russian Plekhanov University of Economics from 1991 .

In the second year of his studies he joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC - an investment structure of the World Bank , oriented towards the markets of developing countries). In 1994, Sherbovich moved from the IFC's Privatization Department to the position of Specialist Advisor to the World Paper Market Monitoring Group of the Federal Committee on the World Paper Market.

In 1995 he joined the United Financial Group , where he worked for 12 years. UFG was founded in 1994 as a brokerage house by ex-Vice Prime Minister of Russia and ex-finance minister Boris Fyodorov and his colleague Charles Ryan in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development .

In 2003, Deutsche Bank took over 40 percent of UFG with the option of completely buying up the company. This option was exercised in 2006. In the newly established structure, Deutsche UFG , Sherbovich retained the post of President, while at the same time taking over the plant business of the Russian branch of Deutsche Bank. During his presidency, the bank occupied leading positions in the field of mergers and acquisitions (Engl. Mergers & Acquisitions ) and the initial and secondary public offerings on the Russian stock market. When UFG was sold to a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank in 2006, he became the third largest co-owner of the company with a stake of around 20 percent.

In 2007, Sherbovich started his own business by investing the proceeds from the sale of his stake in investment company United Capital Partners . This was founded at the end of 2006 by a group of former employees and shareholders of UFG. In September 2007 he took over the office of President and became a managing partner of the company with a capital share of more than 50 percent.

According to Forbes , total assets under the group's leadership were $ 3.5 billion as of August 2013. In the summer of 2016, Sherbovich owned 77.7% of the UCP company's group. Sherbovich is one of the founders of the non - profit organization “Russian Salmon”, an organization that protects salmon species on the territories of the Russian Federation. He is a member of the works council of the largest charitable organization for the protection of wild salmon.

Private life

Ilya Sherbovich is married and has two children.
