Michael P. Aust

Michael P. Aust (born March 11, 1965 in Recklinghausen ) is a German curator , cultural organizer and film producer . His work is mainly concerned with the relationship between music and film .

Life

Aust was festival director of the Braunschweig International Film Festival from 2014 to 2019 and has been festival director of the SoundTrack Cologne film music festival and congress since 2004 . He is a member of the German Film Academy and the Film Office NW .

Since 1996 he has been managing director and producer of TelevisorTroika GmbH, Cologne. With her he organizes cultural events, produces arthouse feature films and documentaries on cultural topics and advises cultural organizers in the field of public relations .

Aust has been working in the film industry for more than 20 years and is (co-) producer of 16 films to date (including 101 Reykjavík , Low Lights , Stolperstein , Parallax Sounds Chicago , Eva Hesse (film) ).

He headed the StadtKlangNetz conference on music education (2007-2014), the European Film Music Day at the Cannes International Film Festival (2009-2016) and curated a. a. the media art festival DuKunst (1992), the exhibitions Klangvisionen (1994), The Art of Pop Video ( Museum for Applied Arts Cologne 2011, Odessa Art Center 2012, FACT Liverpool 2013), the Next Level Conference on the art of computer games (2012), PLAY ! CGN Exhibition and Conference on Computer Games in Art (2013), as well as the conference "Hostile Sisters - Interdependencies of Theater and Film" (2016).
