Ilkka Tapani Mikkola (born January 18, 1979 in Kiiminki ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who was under contract for many years with Kärpät Oulu , Lukko Rauma , Jokerit Helsinki and TPS Turku in the SM-liiga .
Career
Oskari Korpikari played in the youth field for Kärpät Oulu and was selected as a youth player in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 65th player by the Montréal Canadiens , for whom he never played. Before the 1998/99 season , Mikkola moved to TPS Turku , with whom he was champion three times in a row, before he was under contract from 2001 to 2003 with Jokerit Helsinki , with whom he was also champion in 2002. Before the 2003/04 season , Mikkola received a contract with Kärpät Oulu , from whose youth he comes. Since moving to Kärpät, the defender has won the championship title in the SM-liiga four times in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, was runner-up in 2003 and third in 2006. In addition, he reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup twice with Kärpät in 2005 and 2006 , with the two Russian representatives HK Awangard Omsk and HK Dynamo Moscow being defeated. Between 1998 and 2008, with the exception of 2003 and 2006, Mikkola won the Finnish championship eight times.
In April 2013, Mikkola Kärpät Oulu left for Lukko Rauma , after leading his team onto the ice as team captain in the previous six game years .
International
For Finland , Mikkola took part in the Junior World Championships in 1997 , 1998 and 1999 . At the U20 World Cup in 1998, Mikkola and his team were world champions.
