Illarion pryanishnikov ( Russian Илларион Михайлович Прянишников ., Scientific transliteration illarion Michajlovič Pryanishnikov ; born March 20 . Jul / 1. April  1840 greg. In the village Timaschowo in the province Kaluga , † March 12 jul. / 24. March  1894 greg. In Moscow ) was a Russian painter , a member of the Petersburg Art Academy and one of the founders of the Peredvizhniki artist group .

He grew up in the family of a merchant. In the period from 1856 to 1866 he studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, among others with Sorokin and SK Sarjanko .

As a painter he was strongly influenced by Vasily Grigoryevich Perov . From 1873 he taught at the Petersburg Art Academy. He performed this activity until the end of his life. His students included WK Byalynizki-Byrulja , SW Iwanow and Sergei Alexejewitsch Korowin and Marianne von Werefkin .

From the beginning Prjanischnikow was one of the supporters and permanent members of the Peredwischniki and was a member of their board. He died in Moscow in 1894. Much of his work is now on display in the Tretyakov Gallery .
