Ilmar Kullam
Ilmar Kullam (born June 15, 1922 in Tartu , Estonia ; † November 2, 2011 there ) was a Soviet basketball player and coach of Estonian origin.
Athletic performance
In 1938 Kullam began his sporting career. In 1947, 1951 and 1953 he was European champion with the national basketball team of the USSR . In 1949 he won the Soviet championship. He was the Estonian basketball champion four times, including three times as a coach. Ilmar Kullam won the silver medal with the Soviet basketball team at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki . From 1960 to 1975, Kullam worked for the Tartu Kalev sports club . In 1999 he received the Estonian Sports Prize for Lifetime Achievement.
Private
Ilmar Kullam's wife Valentina was a Soviet national basketball player under her maiden name Nasarenko. Their daughter Oksana , also a basketball player, is the wife of the javelin thrower Heino Puuste .
