Ilmari Weneskoski
Ilmari Wäinö Ludvig Weneskoski (born October 2, 1882 in Tampere , † February 8, 1976 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish violinist , conductor and music teacher .
Weneskoski studied at the Helsinki Music School , at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and in Leipzig. In 1917 he founded the music school in Tampere, which he directed until 1924. From 1927 to 1979 he taught violin at the Helsinki Conservatory. One of his students was the violinist Anja Ignatius . He also directed orchestras in Heinola, Helsinki, Tampere, Viipuri and Oulou. Weneskoski was married to the pianist Gerda Weneskoski , with whom he also gave concerts. Her son Jorma Weneskoski became known as a jazz double bass player.
