The Ilmenspitze (also Ilmspitze , Italian Cima Olmi ) is a 2656 m high mountain in the Ilmenkamm of the Ortler Alps .
Location and surroundings
The Ilmenspitze rises in the east of the Ortler Alps roughly in the middle of the Ilmenkamm ridge named after it between the South Tyrolean Ulten Valley in the north and the Trentino Non Valley in the south. From the main summit, two ridges strive towards the southeast and northwest: while the ridge on the Nonstal side slopes down without any significant pre-summit, the Auerberg peaks rise on the ridge that stretches towards Ulten and reach a height of 2622 m . The nearest villages are the Ultner district of St. Nikolaus and to Rumo belonging Lanza .
Climbs
The Ilmenspitze is accessible by marked paths from both South Tyrol and Trentino. The normal route, which takes around four hours from the Ulten side, starts at St. Nikolaus and follows the Auerberg valley upwards. He finally reaches the summit with his cross via the steep west flank.
