action
A somewhat shaky leader of a boy scout group roams through the seemingly peaceful English "Tanglewood". He is followed by one of the wolves from his group, who was forwarded to him. During his exploration, Mr. Pangbourne stumbles from one mishap to the next. However, there are some indications of targeted sabotage, such as a noose he steps into and suddenly finds himself hanging upside down from a tree. The wolf Edison frees him from his predicament. Even an arrow that is insidiously shot at him misses him by a hair's breadth.
Pangbourne turns out to be a poor boy scout as he has great difficulty getting along with nature and his situation. He also leaves very clear traces so that the group of scouts who have been left behind cannot miss his track. To do this, he marks trees and kinks off branches. When he pitched his tent in a valley basin for his night camp, he was surprised by a heavy downpour and was washed out of his tent into the stream in front of his young protégé, together with the air mattress. He ends up being washed ashore on the jetty of a wooden fisherman's hut.
Shortly after their leader and Edison had left them, the remaining members of the scout group found an unconscious rider who took them and their horse to a nearby stud. This turns out to be camouflaged accommodation for covert investigating police forces. Here you will find quarters for the night. The police are on the lookout for some thieves and stolen £ 2,000,000 banknotes.
Edison and Pangbourne quickly identify the residents of the fisherman's hut as the wanted criminals, who are looking for the prey hidden by an accomplice. Finally there is a scuffle between the robbers and the boy scout leader. The money you are looking for appears. The head of the Boy Scouts turns out to be Inspector Pinkerton. Edison and Pinkerton end up receiving a commendation from Scotland Yard for solving this case.
