Imaginations from the Other Side is the fifth studio album by the German metal band Blind Guardian . It was recorded from August to November 1994 and from January to March 1995. The background vocals were recorded in December 1994 at the Karo Studio in Brackel . It was released on April 5, 1995. The lyrics were written by André Olbrich and Hansi Kürsch . As with the two predecessors, the cover artwork was drawn by Andreas Marschall . Billy King, Thomas Hackmann, Rolf Köhler and Piet Sielck took on the background vocals. Jacob Moth plays the acoustic guitar on “A Past and Future Secret”.

Imaginations from the Other Side is the first album since Follow the Blind that Kai Hansen did not take part in, and the last one on which Hansi Kürsch plays bass; on later albums the bass is served by guest musician Oliver Holzwarth.

Many old fans of the band see this album as a turning point in Blind Guardians' music. After this album the songs got more complicated and the production got more punchy. The song "A Past and Future Secret" is a typical Blind Guardian ballad that was also released as a single . The bonus song "The Wizard" is a cover for the rock band Uriah Heep . However, the bonus songs only appeared in Japan.

In the Rheinische Post , the new songs were described as "even more complex and sophisticated" and the experiments such as quietly spoken passages or singing were emphasized through a megaphone, which emphasized the "folkloric elements and the gigantic choirs". Uriah Heep's bonus song was benevolently referred to as a "break in style". There was also a reference to the chart success in Germany; in the first week the album went "from zero to 33".
