Nightfall in Middle-Earth (German "Nachteinbruch in Mittelerde") is the sixth studio album by the metal band Blind Guardian . It was created in 1998 in the "Twilight Hall Studios" in Krefeld , the "Karo Studios" in Brackel and the "Sweet Silence Studios" in Copenhagen and was released on April 24, 1998. It is the first Blind Guardians album to be released in the US. Nightfall in Middle-Earth was also released as a picture LP .
The melodies and the use of choir parts create an epic atmosphere. The concept album takes up musical stories from JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion from the fantasy world of Middle-earth . The chronological narrative begins with the theft of the Silmarili and the exodus of the Noldor (under Feanor ) from Valinor and ends with the fifth battle, Nirnaeth Arnoediad, and the break of the alliance between humans and elves.
The sequence of songs is interrupted by short narrative passages such as War of Wrath , The Minstrel or Face the Truth .
In June 2007 the album was digitally restored (“remastered”) by Charlie Bauerfeind on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the band and given the bonus track Harvest of Sorrow .
