Beyond the Red Mirror -

Beyond the Red Mirror is the tenth studio album by the German metal band Blind Guardian .

Cover design

The cover, in red, shows a mirror that has to be crossed. In terms of content and images, the motif ties in with the cover of Imaginations from the Other Side , published in 1995 .

background

The album was recorded at the Twilight Hall Studio in Grefrath . In terms of content, it ties in with the album Imaginations from the Other Side , published in 1995, and continues the story of the two worlds in front of and behind the mirror. The worlds have changed for the worse. While there were still several paths between the worlds on the 1995 record, there is now only one: the red mirror shown on the cover.

review

Sebastian Kessler heard the album for the Metal Hammer , gave six out of seven possible points and judged: With Beyond the Red Mirror, Blind Guardian have created a not immediately accessible, but multi-layered and fascinating metal work of art from many wonderful ideas, melodies and moments .
Manuel Berger, who reviewed the album for laut.de , was less enthusiastic: The record is symphonic, no question about it. Only the meter-thick epic layer often buries the songs under itself. The gigantic arrangements and song structures come from professionals without a doubt. Nevertheless, they sound like wanted, but failed. Berger gave two stars out of five.
Daniel Køtz from CDstarts.de judged that a lot seems forced, badly constructed and in its weakest moments Blind Guardian seem to meet the quota, which they themselves charge as a burden with the commitment of the invited guest musicians. Furthermore, the album is shockingly pale and poor in highlights and esprit. He awarded five out of ten possible points.
