St-Pierre-St-Paul (Jouy-sur-Morin)
The Catholic parish church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul in Jouy-sur-Morin , a parish in the Seine-et-Marne department in the French region of Île-de-France , was built on the site of a previous church in the style in the 13th century built in the Gothic style. The church, consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul , was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1927 as Monument historique .
history
The previous church, probably built in the 12th century, consisted of only one nave with three bays and was covered with a wooden ceiling. The opus spicatum masonry on the north facade still comes from this church. Between 1230 and 1240, a new two-bay choir was built on the site of the old choir and covered with a ribbed vault. Around 1250 the south aisle was added.
architecture
In the southern corner of the choir rises the bell tower, pierced by large tracery windows and covered with a slate roof. Its corners are bordered by buttresses stepped several times . The choir, which opens into a polygonal apse , is also broken up by tracery windows. A small chapel with a corner tower is built on its south side. Inside, mighty arcades open the main nave to the south aisle. They are supported by bundles of pillars decorated with floral capitals .
Leaded glass window
The church is equipped with numerous leaded glass windows. The window with the representation of Joan of Arc bears the signature F. HAUSSAIRE REIMS PARIS 1902 and was made by the glass painter's workshop Haussaire .
