Imer von Ramstein († July 17, 1395 ) was Bishop of Basel from 1382 to 1391 .

Life

Imer came from the baronial line of the noble family of Ramstein , who were wealthy in the Jura and originally from the Sundgau . His parents were Rudolf von Ramstein, Freiherr von Zwingen and Gilgenberg and Ita von Weissenburg. He is documented as a canon in 1376 and as a cathedral scholaster in Basel in 1380 . In 1381 he was provost of the Saint-Ursanne monastery . He was elected bishop in 1382 by the majority of the Basel cathedral chapter , while a minority chose the Basel canon Werner Schaler . Imer was in March 1383 by Pope Urban VI. confirmed and received the regalia from King Wenceslaus on December 16, 1384 . Imer succeeded in the diocese against the 1381 of Urban VI. Wolfhard von Ehrenfels, who was appointed administrator of the diocese, and Werner Schaler, who belonged to the Avignon obedience , were to claim. Wolfhard waived a financial settlement in 1385 and Werner Schaler withdrew in 1386 after he died with Leopold III. lost his supporter in the battle of Sempach . He finally resigned in 1392. Pope Boniface IX confirmed Imer's resignation on October 13, 1391, who withdrew to his office as cathedral canon . After his death in 1395 he was buried in Basel Minster .
