Wolfhard von Ehrenfels

Wolfhard von Ehrenfels († after May 5, 1421 ) was Bishop of Lavant .

He came from a Styrian ministerial family who owned Ehrenfels Castle and studied law in Vienna in 1377. He then became chaplain under King Wenceslaus , in 1378 he was appointed by Pope Urban VI. appointed administrator of the diocese of Basel and consecrated bishop in 1381.

Nothing is known about his term of office in Basel, since he was unable to assert himself as a stranger.

After he had also lost the support of the king, he resigned himself to the diocese in favor of Imer von Ramstein, who was elected by the cathedral chapter . In 1389 he became pastor of chambers in Liesingtal in Styria, in 1404 archdeacon of the Upper Mark and in 1407 canon of Salzburg. On April 1, 1411 he was by the Salzburg Archbishop Eberhard III. von Neuhaus appointed Bishop of Lavant. In 1418 he took part in the Provincial Synod in Salzburg, at which the Salzburg suffragan bishops formed an alliance to defend their rights against attacks by lay people.
