Werner (Lavant)

Werner (* in the 13th century; † February 6, 1317 ) was Bishop of Lavant .

Werner may have been the son of Wulfing von Stubenberg , his predecessor in the Lavanter bishop's chair, and Countess Elisabeth von Ortenberg. He was the archbishop chaplain and notary in Salzburg. When Wulfing von Stubenberg became Bishop of Bamberg, Werner was appointed the new Bishop of Lavant by the Salzburg Archbishop Konrad IV von Fohnsdorf .

Werner took part in the Provincial Synod in Salzburg, where, among other things, help for the Holy Land was negotiated. He died on February 6, 1317; his grave is unknown.
