Heinrich von Leis

Heinrich Mer von Leis († July 27, 1342 ) was Heinrich II. Bishop of Lavant .

Heinrich Mer von Leis came from a wealthy family of ministers from Lower Austria . He studied canon law in Bologna and received his doctorate in 1332. In the same year he became canon in Salzburg, in 1333 rector of the infirmary and confessor of the Salzburg cathedral dean and in 1335 cathedral curator . In 1338 he was appointed Bishop of Lavant by the Salzburg Archbishop Heinrich von Pirnbrunn . However, he did not reside in St. Andrä, but in Vienna, and appointed his later successor Heinrich III. to the administrator of the diocese.
