Imperial Klans of America

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Imperial Klans of America, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan ( IKA ) is a racist organization modeled after the original Ku Klux Klan (KKK). It was founded in 1996 and was the second largest KKK organization until 2008. The number abbreviation for the clan is 33/6 (3 times the 11th letter of the alphabet = 33 = KKK, the 6 stands for the 6th dynasty of the clan).

organization

Ron Edwards , who sees himself as the sixth leader of the original Ku Klux Klan, succeeded Nathan Bedford Forrest , William Joseph Simmons , Samuel Green , Hiram Wesley Evans and David Duke , led the IKA as Imperial Wizard for many years . He describes himself as a mixture of skinhead , neo-Nazi and kluxer. His son Steven Edwards is the leader of the Supreme White Alliance skinhead group . Due to legal proceedings, he resigned from the management in 2008 and bequeathed all of his property to his son.

Edward's reputation suffered greatly from being arrested in 2010 for trafficking in methamphetamine . He was sentenced to four years in prison and has been in prison since 2011.

The IKA sees itself as a disorganized militia and claims to be based on the constitution of the United States . The clan's headquarters are in Dawson Springs , Kentucky and have claverns in Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, South Africa, South America and Europe.

Although the IKA is based on old Ku Klux Klan traditions, it is also working increasingly with the right-wing extremist skinhead scene. The "Nordic Fest" is an annual event. In addition to numerous speeches and cult acts, US American right-wing rock greats such as Max Resist , Intimidation One , Final War and H8Machine also appear.

In 2008, National Geographic television reported the Klan under the title Inside American Terror, and in 2009, History dedicated an episode of Gangland to the IKA.

Crimes related to the clan

Gruver v. IKA

In July 2006, members of the Jordan Gruver clan beat up a 16-year-old Panamanian boy at a Kentucky fair. In February 2007, IKA members Jarred Hensley and Andrew Watkins were sentenced to three years in prison. The Southern Poverty Law Center has filed a civil lawsuit against Ron Edwards and the IKA. On November 14, 2008, a jury awarded Gruver $ 1.5 million in damages and an additional $ 1 million in redress.

The SPLC received several threats while the trial was in progress. Hal Turner , a noted supremacist and talk show host, was the author of one of these threatening letters. A former member of the clan testified to the court that he was offered money to kill Morris Dees - director of the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Planned attack on Obama

In the course of the 2008 presidential election in the United States , the Klan acted against Barack Obama . In the strongholds of the clan, slings were distributed in schoolyards and black college professors hung outside the doors. There were also demonstrations with dummy weapons. Shortly after the election, two supporters of the clan who planned to kill Obama and massacre more than 100 black people were arrested.
