Location and description

The location originally consisted of two residential spaces ( 51 ° 14 ′ 17.6 ″  N , 7 ° 8 ′ 12.8 ″  E and 51 ° 14 ′ 9.4 ″  N , 7 ° 8 ′ 11.3 ″  E ) Friedrichsberg residential area in the Elberfeld district at an altitude of 229  m above sea level. Etymology and history

Stöcken goes back to the Middle High German Stok and describes a tree stump left over from clearing. On the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, the two living spaces are shown with o. Floors (upper floors) and u. Stöcken (lower floors) recorded. The location is also recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824, as well as on the Prussian first survey of 1843.

In 1815/16 the place had 51 inhabitants. In 1832 the place belonged to the wood and Eichholzer Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld . The place, categorized as a hamlet according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , was referred to as being on the sticks and at that time had six residential buildings and six agricultural buildings. At that time, 71 residents lived in the place, two Catholic and 69 Protestant faith.

The upper in the sticks went off towards the end of the 20th century.
