In the Army Now is a song by Bolland & Bolland from 1981. In particular, the cover version by Status Quo in 1986 was very successful.
history
Bolland & Bolland released the song under the title You're in the Army Now in 1981. However, it was only a number one hit in Finland and Norway and a top hit in Sweden (No. 2) and South Africa (No. 9). Ten hit.
Status Quo made the song much better known commercially. It was released on October 3, 1986. The rock song became a number one hit in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The anti-war song interprets the merits of military service in a polemical and sarcastic way . In the new version of Status Quo from 2010, however, these lines were largely removed and replaced by statements affirming the war.
