Ina Jens

Ina Jens (born October 22, 1880 in Thusis , Canton of Graubünden ; † January 17, 1945 in Valparaíso , Chile ; real name Claudia Cadisch , married Werkmeister-Cadisch ) was a Swiss writer .

Life

Claudia Cadisch worked as a teacher in Toggenburg and Thusis after attending the teachers' seminar in Chur . She later switched to the German school in Rustschuk ( Bulgaria ). After marrying the educator Carl Werkmeister, the couple emigrated to Chile in 1907 , where Ina Jens taught at the German secondary school in Concepción . After the divorce of their marriage in 1916 she went to Viña del Mar near Valparaíso and taught at the German school there. She has been publishing literary works under the pseudonym “Ina Jens” since the 1920s.

Ina Jens' work consists mainly of stories for young readers. While her first books were based on the author's childhood experiences in Graubünden , she later described the fates of children in their Chilean adopted home.
