Indaiatuba is a city in the interior of the Brazilian state of São Paulo with 235,367 inhabitants (2016).
The city takes its name from Indaiá . In the language of the indigenous people of the region ( Tupí - Guaraní ), Indaiá refers to the Attalea dubia palm . The word tuba in this language indicates that the Attalea dubia is very common in this place.
location
The city is located at 47 ° 13 'West and 23 ° 05' South, in the RMC (Região Metropolitana de Campinas) at a distance of 40 kilometers from Campinas and 90 kilometers from the city of São Paulo . The municipality covers a territory of 311 km².
economy
Major automotive companies such as Toyota , General Motors, and Honda have manufacturing facilities in the city. There are also branches of other international companies such as Unilever , Kion Group and the German GPM Geräte- und Pumpenbau GmbH.
Culture and sights
The Parque Ecológico (German: Ecological Park) offers cycling and hiking trails as well as an integrated theme park (Parque Temático). There is also a railway museum in the city, which exhibits a locomotive from the 19th century and an H0 gauge model railway .
