Index - word and effect

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Index - word and effect (common spelling: index , sometimes also index (word and effect) ) is an independent collective of Swiss authors founded in 2001 in Zurich . Since then, the group has realized numerous series of events, festivals, exhibitions and appearances in Zurich. Since 2010 Index has also organized the Freiraum Scholarship , an artist-in-residence program that is open not only to writers, but also to artists of all arts.

history

Index was founded in 2001 by the authors Andreas Heusser and Marc Rychener in a shared apartment in Zurich and, in collaboration with the author and singer Mauro Guarise, the artist Cornelia Heusser and the graphic artist Nicolas Häberli, it was built into an interdisciplinary artist collective. Index made its public appearance for the first time at the Festival of the Arts (June 22nd / 23rd, 2002) on the office premises in Zurich, in which over 70 artists from the fields of visual arts, literature, music, film, dance and theater participated . Index achieved greater awareness as the organizer of the annual literature festival Lyrik am Fluss , on whose stage - it was located in the middle of the Limmat - international greats and newcomers from the literary scene appeared. Under the direction of index, the festival will soon become " one of the most important literary events in Zurich "

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary , the Salis Verlag published the index anthology Das I have imagined larger with texts from index from and about Zurich. The book premiere took place on October 29, 2011 in the Zurich Club Kaufleuten.

Goals and structure

The participants are not bound to any particular political or programmatic orientation: the focus is on the network idea and synergies . The exchange takes place through regular workshop discussions , where the participants present and discuss their latest projects and works. In 2004 Index formally changed to an association. Since then, the focus of activities has been on literature .
