Indaka ( English Indaka Local Municipality ) was a municipality in the South African district of Uthukela in the province of KwaZulu-Natal . Wasbank was the administrative seat of the municipality . Nkosinathi Mchunu was the last mayor. The IFP and the ANC recently had the most seats on the local council.

The name of the community comes from the Indaka River . In 2011 the community had 103,116 inhabitants. It covered an area of ​​992 square kilometers.

In 2016, Indaka formed the Alfred Duma community together with the Emnambithi-Ladysmith community .

Indaka bordered the parishes of Emnambithi-Ladysmith, Endumeni , Msinga, and Inkosi Langalibalele . Parts of Indaka were in the catchment area of ​​the Tugela and the Sundays Rivers .

economy

Indaka was a rural community with no urban status settlement. Therefore, it was difficult for the community to attract investors. The economic situation in the community resulted in high unemployment.

There were no national roads through the community. Most of the community's regional roads were in poor condition. There was no industry to speak of in the community.
