The Independence Stadium (also rarely Oshakati Independence Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Namibian city of Oshakati in the north of the country. It is the home ground of the Oshakati City football club . In February 2008, two spectators were killed in a major flood.
Renovations
The stadium was built in 2003 after seven years of construction and only a few months later had to be repaired for more than € 8,000 due to construction defects. In 2010 the stadium was renovated again and the capacity increased by 1000 seats. In 2013 it was renovated again for 300,000 Namibia dollars . In mid-2014 there was talk of renewed construction defects.
Another renovation for 1 million Namibian dollars was announced in September 2019 .
