The Bavarian infantry rifle M / 1858 (also called Podewils rifle ) belonged to the equipment of the Royal Bavarian Army in its various versions in the middle of the 19th century .

The infantry rifle was developed by Philipp von Podewils , director of the Royal Bavarian Rifle Factory in Amberg .
