Infantry rifle M / 1858
The Bavarian infantry rifle M / 1858 (also called Podewils rifle ) belonged to the equipment of the Royal Bavarian Army in its various versions in the middle of the 19th century .

The infantry rifle was developed by Philipp von Podewils , director of the Royal Bavarian Rifle Factory in Amberg . The paper cartridge M58 / 67 was used. It contained 4.65 g black powder , a 27.65 g projectile and a primer in the bottom . The latter was placed on the piston before loading .

The Podewils rifle was used in the German War of 1866 and in the Franco-German War of 1870/1871.
