Infest is the first major label album by the California rock band Papa Roach . Before Lovehatetragedy, it is by far the band's most successful album to date and was recorded and produced by Jay Baumgardner (including System of a Down and Coal Chamber ) in Los Angeles.

Infest was released on April 25, 2000 via Dreamworks Records and sold over three million copies in the US alone. The band, which was an average of 21 years old at the time, achieved three platinum awards. This success is largely due to the first single -Auskopplung Last Resort , which reached 4 on the charts in the United States number 52, number 4 in the UK and Germany place traced. As a result, the album itself rose to number 5 in the US charts, to number 9 in the British charts, to number 12 in Austria and to number 16 in Switzerland.
On Infest there were four older but newly recorded songs by the band along with seven current compositions. After Last Resort , Broken Home and Between Angels And Insects were released as singles.
The album was assigned by specialist magazines to Nu Metal , which was very popular at the time , and due to the prominent rap deposits, comparisons were made to Rage Against the Machine . Overall, however, the songs are "structured like pop songs" and thus made for the mass market.
Thematically, the album takes up very personal aspects in a direct way, such as the divorce of the parents of the singer Jacoby Shaddix ( Broken Home ), his problems with ADHD ( Thrown Away ) and alcoholism ( Binge ). This was interpreted negatively by some music critics just after a certain time lag: Papa Roach would often not manage the balancing act between profound and dull.
The album cover features a cockroach alluding to the band name Papa Roach.

- The UK version of the album includes both Legacy and a live version of Dead Cell as bonus tracks, as well as the official Last Resort video clip .
- Blood Brothers was used in the video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 as well as FlatOut 2 .
- Blood Brothers was used while fighting at the factory in the action film The One .
- Last Resort was recorded in The One in the end sequence.
- Never Enough is part of the soundtrack for the game " Gran Turismo 3".
