Last Resort (English for: "last resort" ) is a song by the American rock band Papa Roach . The song is the first single from their studio album Infest and was released on September 18, 2000.

Last Resort is about suicide . In an interview with Songfacts.com , Papa Roach member Tobin Esperance commented on the content as follows:

“I think the lyrics had a lot to do with it. Because originally the song was about a friend of ours, with whom we grew up, who had a difficult time in his life. And there was this suicidal element that came up during growing up and life's struggles with the question of whether or not you want to keep going. I think a lot of people are related to it. The lyrics really helped children who went through these feelings to connect with this song. "

Chart successes and awards

Last Resort entered the German single charts at number 27 on October 2, 2000 and reached the top position on November 13, 2000 with fourth place. In total, it stayed in the top 100 for 17 weeks. In 2018 the single was awarded a platinum record for more than 500,000 units sold in Germany , making it by far the most commercially successful song by the band in this country to this day. In the UK, the song went platinum in 2018 for over 600,000 sales.
