Lovehatetragedy is the second major label album by the California rock band Papa Roach and was released on June 18, 2002.

useful information

Although the band was ultimately unable to repeat the sales success of the previous album Infest with this album , around 700,000 copies of Lovehatetragedy were still sold in the United States alone. The band received gold records in the US, Canada and the UK, and the album reached number two on the US Billboard charts.

Stylistically, the band developed from its nu-metal- heavy predecessor towards alternative rock . There are less rapped passages and more conventional rock singing. Furthermore, the singer of the band Jacoby Shaddix dropped his stage name Coby Dick with the release of the album , which gave the band a more adult image. Instead of socially critical texts as on Infest , the focus is more on personal relationship stories , as indicated by the album title.

reception

According to Conny Schiffbauer from Rock Hard , Lovehatetragedy is "more organic, edgy and less catchy than its acclaimed predecessor." The parts to hop along have "given way to a straighter guitar game". The reviewer gave 7.5 out of ten points.
