The Information Processing Center (IVZ) is a cooperation between ARD and Deutschlandradio , within the framework of a public-law, non-legal administrative community based in the Berlin-Brandenburg broadcasting company in Potsdam.

tasks

The IVZ's task is to collect, process and use data, including the processing and use of data for the broadcasters' own journalistic and editorial purposes, the establishment of databases, the creation of programs and software development as well as the implementation of work in the field of business and archival IT Applications for broadcasters or on behalf of third parties.

history

The facility was founded in 1993 as a cooperation between Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg ( ORB ) and Sender Free Berlin ( SFB ).

Bodies

The IVZ has a steering committee made up of the heads of the information systems / organization departments of the broadcasters involved. The members of the steering committee are responsible for the implementation of their joint plans in their respective broadcaster.

The managing director of the center coordinates all technical issues with the steering committee. Ralf Zerbian was the managing director of the IVZ from 1993 to 2001. Georg Greten has been managing director since 2001.

The broadcasting corporations work together in an administrative board to manage and monitor the fulfillment of the IVZ's tasks. Each of the broadcasting corporations appoints a member to fill the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors elects a chairman from among its members for two business years. Christoph Augenstein from Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) has headed the IVZ Board of Directors since 2017.
