Coat of arms of the association

The coat of arms of the Information Technology Battalion 281 consists of the coat of arms of the city of Gerolstein and some military style elements. The blazon of the coat of arms of the city of Gerolstein reads: "In gold, a red-armored and -tongued black lion, covered with a five-pointed red tournament collar." The black lion shown represents the Jülich lion, the heraldic animal of the Duchy of Jülich, to which Gerolstein once belonged belonged to.

Below the black lion, the Gerolsteiner coat of arms is complemented by the colors of the German federal flag , on which the stylized military symbol of the telecommunications force is emblazoned in yellow. The coat of arms is framed by a wide, red border. In contrast to the Gerolsteiner coat of arms, the coat of arms of the Command Support Battalion 281 is presented on a triangular shield and not on a semicircular shield.
