The Information Technology Battalion 282 ( ITBtl 282 ) in Kastellaun is an office of the cyber and information space and is subordinate to the information technology command of the Bundeswehr . Together with its soldiers, it operates the information and communication systems of the Bundeswehr in action .

The Information Technology Battalion 282 makes a substantial contribution to missions abroad worldwide by permanently assigning personnel and by providing information and communication technology to ensure the command of the German and Allied troops. For this purpose, training takes place permanently. In addition, basic training for various branches of the armed forces takes place in Kastellaun . In addition to the core tasks, the Information Technology Battalion 282 is involved in the territorial tasks of the Rhineland-Palatinate state command and is thus able to support civilian rescue workers in the event of disasters and accidents.
history
The prehistory begins in Wuppertal as early as 1958 . The actual battalion was set up on April 1, 1964 as Fernmeldebataillon 770 in Kastellaun and renamed several times at the location. On October 1, 2005, it was renamed Command Support Battalion 282 ( FüUstgBtl 282 ). There are numerous partnerships with the surrounding communities. With the change of subordination from the SKB to the military organizational area cyber and information space, which was newly established in 2017, it was renamed again. Since July 1, 2017, it has been the 282 information technology battalion.
