Frank Utzerath

Frank-Bruno Utzerath (* 1967 in Bonn ) is a German Brigadier General and has been the Military Vice President of the Military Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD) since October 1, 2019 .

Training and first uses

After graduating from high school , Utzerath joined the Bundeswehr as a soldier in October 1986 . After changing to the career of officers and the associated officer training in the 58th  year of junior officer in the telecommunications force , he studied at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . This was followed by a three-year assignment as a company commander of the 4th / Fernmeldebataillon 10 in the Graf-Stauffenberg barracks in Sigmaringen and four years as a personnel officer in the staff of the Command Support Brigade 900 in Rheinbach .

Service as a staff officer

From October 2002 to October 2004 Utzerath took part in the 45th General Staff Service / Admiralty Staff Service national (LGAN) course at the Command Academy of the Federal Armed Forces (FüAkBw) in Hamburg in order to be deployed to posts for officers in the General Staff Service . This was followed by assignments as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Defense at the Command Staff of the Armed Forces (Fü S), Staff Department  VI (Planning) and from March 7, 2008 to April 16, 2010 as a battalion commander of the Command Support Battalion 282 in Kastellaun . From 2010 to 2016 there were further ministerial assignments as a policy officer at the Army Command , Division I 2 ( personnel planning, budget, situation; reservist matters ), as head of division in the Army Inspectorate and in the Army Command . In April 2016 Utzerath became a sub-department head in the planning office of the Bundeswehr and from April 2018 he was head of the planning II 5 division in the Federal Ministry of Defense (skill development domain support).

Service in the military counterintelligence

On October 1, 2019, Utzerath became military vice-president of the military counterintelligence service without having had a previous assignment in the MAD. In this post he was appointed Brigadier General.
