IC 4639 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is an estimated 775 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6276 and NGC 6278 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 28, 1903 .
