IC 4638 is an elliptical galaxy with the Hubble type E0 in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 509 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light-years across.
The object was discovered on April 15, 1899 by Sherburne Wesley Burnham .
