Ingeborg Kummerow (born August 23, 1912 in Neurahlstedt , † August 5, 1943 in Berlin-Plötzensee ) was a German resistance fighter . The clerk and wife of Hansheinrich Kummerow belonged to the Rote Kapelle .

Life

Ingeborg Mathilde Dolores Kummerow was born as the daughter of the businessman Conrad Martin Adolf Picker and his wife Mathilde Sophie Mariane Louise Picker, née Schnitter. On October 24, 1936, she married Hans Heinrich Kummerow.

After Hans Heinrich Kummerow was arrested by the Gestapo at the end of November 1942 as part of the search term "Rote Kapelle", she was imprisoned at the beginning of December. On January 27, 1943, she was sentenced to death by the Reich Court Martial for aiding and abetting " espionage " . A clemency by Ingeborg Kummerow, which was made also of 16 other members of the Red Orchestra, rejected Adolf Hitler on July 21, 1943 at Hitler's headquarters from. The convicts were also deprived of their civil rights . On August 5, 1943 , they were executed by guillotine in Plötzensee , along with 15 other convicts . Ingeborg Kummerow left two small sons: Steffen and Thomas.

Honors

  • On March 27, 2015 , a stumbling block was laid in front of her former place of residence, Berlin-Nikolassee , Spanische Allee 166 . On the stumbling block, the date of death is incorrectly given as August 5, 1944. She was executed a year earlier on August 5, 1943.
