Ingo Meyer (born January 20, 1969 in Hildesheim ) is a German lawyer and local politician (non-party). He has been Lord Mayor of Hildesheim since February 1, 2014 .

Life

Meyer grew up in Giesen and Hildesheim and attended the Josephinum high school in Hildesheim, which he left in 1988 with the Abitur. He did his military service in the Hildesheim Gallwitz barracks . He studied law up to and including the Georg-August University in Göttingen and passed the first state examination in 1994 , followed by the second state examination in August 1998. From 1995 Meyer worked on his doctorate , which he successfully completed in April 2002.

From January 1999 to December 2000 he worked as a lawyer for the international auditing and tax consultancy firm Arthur Andersen in Hamburg . From 2001 he worked for BEITEN BURKHARDT Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH for eleven years. Afterwards he was a partner , tax advisor and lawyer for the law firm Bird & Bird in Frankfurt am Main until he took office as Lord Mayor of Hildesheim . In this position he advised the city of Hildesheim on the outsourcing of their sewage division.

Meyer stood as a candidate for an alliance of the CDU , SPD and the Greens and achieved 53% of the votes against the previous incumbent Kurt Machens in the election on September 22, 2013 .

Meyer is married and has two children.
