Ingulf Donig (born February 13, 1953 in Pößneck ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2011 to 2016 he was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Donig is a graduate engineer for industrial electronics and has been working in the IT industry since 1990. In 1989 Donig became a member of the SDP , the predecessor of the SPD. In 1990 he became a community representative, in 1993 mayor of Altefähr and in 1998 a member of the district council of the Rügen district .

In the state election in 2011 , Donig was nominated as a direct candidate for the SPD in the Rügen I constituency . Due to the sudden death of CDU candidate Udo Timm , the election there had to be postponed by two weeks. On September 18, he finally won the direct mandate with 25.7 percent of the first votes. Donig benefited above all from the fact that the CDU advised against choosing its own candidate, Thomas Gens , because of his past with the German People's Union .

Donig is married and has a daughter and a son.
