The Inhoffen Medal is an award named after the chemist Hans Herloff Inhoffen (1906–1992) for research in the field of natural product chemistry. The prize is endowed with 5000 euros and has been awarded by the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research since 1994 . Inhoffen taught from 1946 to 1974 at the Technical University of Braunschweig and was appointed rector from 1948 to 1950. He was the founder of the "Institute for Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Biophysics" (IMB), a forerunner of the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research.
The Society of German Chemists awarded a Hans Herloff Inhoffen Prize in 2005 and 2007 .
