The Iniciativa de Desenvolvimento Comunitário de Macau ( Portuguese for Initiative for the Development of the Community of Macau , Chinese 澳門 社區 發展 新 動力 ) is a political party in the Macau Special Administrative Region within the People's Republic of China . It is represented in the Macau Legislative Assembly by the two prominent politicians António Ng and Au Kam San .

history

The founder of the party was Tong Ka Io , who founded the Iniciativa de Desenvolvimento Comunitário de Macau on September 3, 2015. Differences of opinion within the then most important party in the pro-democracy camp , the Associação Novo Macau , led Au Kam San and António Ng to leave the Associação Novo Macau in 2014 and Au Kam San finally moved from the Associação Novo Macau to the Iniciativa in 2016 de Desenvolvimento Comunitário de Macau moved. António Ng followed a year later and also joined the new party. In the general election in 2017 António Ng took over the electoral list Associação de Próspero Macau Democrático and Au Kam San on the election list Associação de Novo Movimento Democrático into the Legislative Assembly. At this point, António Ng had already joined the Iniciativa de Desenvolvimento Comunitário de Macau. Formally, both lists started independently, but both lists can be merged in the Iniciativa de Desenvolvimento Comunitário de Macau.

Alignment

The two leading members António Ng and Au Kam San are experienced politicians in Macau, António Ng was already a member of the Legislative Assembly under Portuguese sovereignty. Until the Nova Esperança entered the Legislative Assembly in 2005, the Associação Novo Macau was the only party in the pro-democracy camp in parliament . One of the issues raised by the two MPs was the demand for the introduction of universal suffrage for Macau's head of government as part of actual democratization . From 2014, under Sulu Sou Ka Hou, the Associação Novo Macau changed into a gathering point for young political activists , especially students . This development contributed to the fact that António Ng and Au Kam San left the party because they represented more moderate demands for democratization and considered an excessively radical appearance in the repressive system of Macau as part of the People's Republic of China to be dangerous for a politician. Thus, the Iniciativa de Desenvolvimento Comunitário de Macau is today the more moderate party between it and the original Associação Novo Macau.
