Iniesta is a municipality ( municipio ) in the province of Cuenca the Autonomous Region of Castilla-La Mancha in Spain . It is the capital of a judicial district in the southeast of the province.

The place was the seat of a feudal rule , the fortress in the place was an important bulwark during the Castilian Reconquista .

The municipality borders the municipalities of Castillejo de Iniesta and Graja de Iniesta in the north, Villalpardo , Villarta and El Herrumblar in the east, Villamalea , Ledaña and Casas de Juan Fernández in the south and Villanueva de la Jara in the west .

Iniesta has a departure on the Autovía A-3 from Madrid to Valencia .
