Innaanganeq [ ˌiˈnːaːŋanɜq ] (according to the old spelling Ivnânganeĸ ; Inuktun Innaanganeq [ ˌiˈnːaːŋanɜ (q) ]) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Qaanaaq in the Avannaata Kommunia .

location

Innaanganeq is located on Cape York on the east coast of the headland south of the Sermipaluk glacier . The closest place is Savissivik 37 km east.

history

The Inughuit used to migrate nomadically through the Thule region. There were four groups, each of which settled in their area. Innaanganeq was part of the Nigerliit residential group , the southernmost of the four. In 1951 Innaanganeq had 7 residents. In 1952 the residential area had 17 residents. The following year there were 25 people living in Innaanganeq. In 1960 no more residents were counted there, which means that the living space was given up in the 1950s.
