Quinisut [ quˈinisutˢʰ ] (according to the old spelling K'uinissut ; Inuktun Quinihut [ quˈinihu (t) ]) is a deserted Greenlandic settlement in the district of Qaanaaq in the Avannaata Kommunia .
location
Quinisut is located on the north coast of the fjord Kangerlussuaq (Inglefield Bredning). The Quinisut Sermiat (Hubbard Gletsjer) glacier flows directly to the west of Quinisut . From Quinisut it is 36 km west to Qaanaaq and 26 km east to Qeqertat .
history
The Inughuit used to roam within four residential groups. Quinisut belongs to the Oqqorliit residential group . Only six people lived in Quinisut in 1951. The place was completely deserted the following year.
