Inocencio de la Inmaculada
Inocencio de la Inmaculada (birth name: Manuel Canoura Arnau ; born March 10, 1887 in Cecilia Oro Valley , † October 9, 1934 in Turon) was a Spanish martyr . He is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church .
Manuel Canoura Arnau entered the seminary of the Passionist Order at the age of 14 and accepted the name Inocencio de la Inmaculada . In 1920 he received in Mieres the priesthood . Inocencio worked primarily as a preacher and teacher in various centers of his order. In September 1934 he was transferred to Mieres. Inocencio was sentenced to death by a revolutionary committee during the uprisings of left militias in Asturias in Turon, where he confessed children in Christian schools at the request of the religious community .
He was by Pope John Paul II. In 1990 beatified and in 1999 canonized .
