Inonge Mutukwa Wina (born April 2, 1941 in Suibumbu Village , Senanga District, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia )) is a Zambian politician and suffragette.

She initially worked as a women's rights activist before becoming involved in politics. After holding several ministerial posts, she became the first Vice President of the Republic of Zambia in February 2015.

Inonge Wina was born in 1941 in a village in Senanga district in what was then the British colony of Northern Rhodesia. She attended elementary school in Senanga and Mongu , but then graduated from Santa Monica High School in Los Angeles , California . She received degrees in history , sociology and social work . She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Zambia .

In the 1970s, she began as a social worker to fight for women's rights. She later continued this fight as a civil servant. You work u. a. with the Young Women Christian Association ; she later became President of the Zambian Section. Together with the Zambian police, she developed the organization The Victim Report (German for example: The Victim Report), which was supposed to provide help to women and children in Zambia who were victims of domestic violence.

Wina came into politics in 2001. At that time, she was elected to the National Assembly as a member of the United Party for National Development in the constituency of Nalolo and remained in that post until 2006. She then lost her seat in new elections. In 2011 she was re-elected to the Parliament for the Patriotic Front , to which she belonged until her appointment as Vice President in 2015. She has held a number of ministerial offices during her political career to date. She was Minister of Finance and Minister of Education; under Michael Sata she became Minister of Gender and Child Development ( Minister of Gender and Child Development ) and also served as Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs ( Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs ).

Since February 9, 2015, she has been the first Vice President and the first Lozi in this position under President Edgar Lungu . She has the rank of Prime Minister of the Republic of Zambia.

Inonge Wina was married to the freedom fighter and academic Arthur Nutuluti Lubinda Wina († 1995) and is the mother of three children.
