Insch ( Gaelic An Innis ) is a village in the Scottish council area of Aberdeenshire . It is located about 16 km southeast of Huntly (Scotland) and 39 km northwest of Aberdeen . In 2011, Insch had 2282 inhabitants.
With Bennachie , Insch was the location of a whiskey distillery from 1822 to 1915 .
The Picardy Stone is a Pictish symbol stone from the 6th or 7th century AD. It stands on a road between Netherton and the Myreton Fatm, north of Insch.

The A96 , which connects Aberdeen with Inverness , runs about 3 miles east of Insch and connects the village to the long-distance network. Insch owns a train station operated by First ScotRail and served by the Aberdeen to Inverness Line . Historically, the station was on the main line of the Great North of Scotland Railway .
